The weather outside may be frightful, but don’t let that keep you holed up at home. Our friends in Downtown Ludington put together this hot list of things to do downtown to keep you busy and enjoying winter.
1. Learn to Knit or Crochet
Nautical Yarn is just off the main drag on South Rath, and it's full of skeins galore! Get all of your supplies and sign up for classes. If you have your needles and hooks, find “Knittin At The Mitten” at the downtown pub. This social group meets every Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Barley & Rye. Join the Knittin At The Mitten Facebook Group.
2. Ice Skating at James Street Plaza
Check out ice skates free of charge from the Ludington Library and head to the downtown poly-rink for an outdoor skating experience! Glide around this 30’x56’ synthetic surface skating rink, seven days a week, at no cost.
3. Attend an Inspired Painting Party
Inspired Parties holds painting parties at various Downtown Ludington locations, including Jamesport Brewing Co., Red Rooster Coffee & Community and Blu Moon Bistro. Like the Inspired Parties Facebook page and subscribe to events to find out when parties are added to the schedule. Inspired Parties now has studio space open as well.
4. Take a Fitness Class
Get off the couch and warm up at Ludington Spin & Yoga, Ludington Crossfit or Lotus of Ludington. All of these locations offer classes that will have you working up a good sweat!
5. Join in a Jam Session
If you play an instrument, there are two weekly jam sessions that you can sit in on. Pickin at the Mitten happens on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. at The Mitten Bar, and Open Jam is every Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Sandbar. If you’re a vocalist, consider karaoke on Thursdays at 9:30 p.m. at the Sandbar, or Open Mic Night, every 2nd and 4th Friday at Ludington Area Center for the Arts.
