Pack your bags: We have some easy, getaway ideas for the perfect fall road trip to Pure Ludington! Here are some activities we have on our Autumn checklist, which we think you will be fond of too:
Visit a farm
Fall is the perfect time to head to a U-pick farm to grab some fresh produce. It’s a family-friendly activity and a fun way to celebrate the fall harvest. Christofferson Farms is open 7 days a week through mid-October, where you can pick apples and find other fresh, market items. Lewis Adventure Farms & Petting Zoo will take you on a tractor ride to the orchard to pick your favorite apple or sunflower variety, and the on-site store features more produce items and baked goods.
Go wine tasting
Enjoy a snack and wine by the glass on the Fox Barn Market & Winery patio, overlooking the vineyards in a country setting just south of Ludington. You can also visit the antique barn store to find more local food products or a unique gift.
Cast a line
The Pere Marquette River has several spots along the route where you can fish for a prized King or Coho Salmon. If you’re not sure where to go, contact one of our fishing guides, who will be happy to help you reel in a trophy fish and a story worth telling.
Take a cruise
Fall is a quiet time to go sailing on Lake Michigan aboard one of our passenger ships, the S.S. Badger or the Princess of Ludington before their seasons end in mid-October. The Badger cruise is a four-hour trip to Manitowoc, WI, with a number of on-board activities to keep you entertained: music, theater room, Badger BINGO, food and drinks. An excursion aboard the Princess will take you on a short trip along the shoreline of Ludington, where you can view the city’s most prized attractions.
Go on a color tour
The countryside of Mason County becomes a magical landscape of reds and golds as the seasons change. Take a drive using our handy map, or try new vantage points on a hiking trail, from a kayak, on a bicycle or on horseback.
Hit the links
Improve your game and enjoy the outdoors with a bit cooler temperatures. Ludington has three local courses, which are sure to entertain the novice and challenge an avid golfer: Hemlock Golf Club, Lakeside Links and Lincoln Hills Golf Club.
