Family Fun in Ludington

Looking for some outdoor, family fun this summer? Ludington has a list of exciting encounters for you! Check out the ways you can still squeeze in some quality time before kids head back to school:

Get Drenched

Ludington has a brand-new way to stay cool this summer, the Ludington Splash Pad. Just press a button, and you’re on your way to a sprinkled, fun-filled day of play. This attraction is located at Copeyon Park and is free and open to the public, 8 a.m.-10 p.m.

Visit a Farmyard

Make memories with the animals at Lewis Adventure Farm & Zoo, south of Ludington in New Era. August 15-16 is the Peach Harvest Festival, when you can find fresh peaches, peach donuts and more! Bounce on the giant jumping pillow, play games and, of course, feed the goats, deer, donkeys and bunnies.

Get Up Close & Personal

Take a wagon ride and see a herd of elk up close at Ludington’s Amber Elk Ranch. Enjoy a tour of the 130-acre ranch, pet and feed the animals, and grab a snack from the store.

Head to the Lake

Ludington has 28 miles of shoreline on Lake Michigan, so there’s no shortage of places to enjoy the big lake, sugar sands and local amenities. Or you could head to an inland lake, like Hamlin Lake at the Ludington State Park, where you can rent a kayak or paddle boat. If a relaxing float on a river is more your style, check out our liveries who offer service here.

Tour the Dairy Farm

Who doesn’t love cheese curds and ice cream? You can find all this and more at Country Dairy in New Era. See how they milk the cows, view the bottling machines and learn about the cheese-making process. Try samples and say hello to the cows!

Take a Horseback Ride

Stony Lake Stables offers family-friendly riding for ages 3 and up, with no experience necessary. There are 65 gentle, well-trained horses, and experienced wranglers work hard to provide an enjoyable ride for every guest. Travel beautifully shaded trails and have an opportunity to see whitetail deer and other wildlife.

Ludington offers a number of opportunities for you to take a boat ride with a captain at the helm. Take a sailboat ride with Freedom Sailing Adventures, a shoreline cruise aboard the Princess of Ludington, or a 4-hour trip on the S.S. Badger.
