Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the State of Michigan is in a phased re-opening plan. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has announced MI Safe Start Plan, which outlines how business and recreational activities are able to resume. Each phase requires 6-foot physical distancing from others not in your household and sanitation measures at businesses to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Mason County is currently in Region 2 and Phase 4, which allows businesses to open with restrictions and imposes a limit on social gatherings. Restaurants are operating a half-capacity for indoor dining, and bars are closed. Indoor gatherings must be 10 or fewer people, and outdoor gatherings are limited to 100 (with appropriate physical distancing).
There is also a state-wide mask mandate, requiring individuals to wear a mask anytime you are indoors at a business, and outdoors when 6-foot social distancing cannot be maintained.
Travelers are encouraged to follow these guidance set forth by public health officials. For more on the state’s Coronavirus response, head to michigan.gov/coronavirus. Information on Mason County can be found on the District Health Department #10 website.
Mason County businesses have instituted a number of protocols to help keep you safe as you visit. Stay Safe Mason County is a website, where you can view safety measures that are currently in place at hotels, restaurants, museums and shops. Filters on the web page allow you to decide which protocols are important to you and search businesses based on your ideals.
