Lantern-lit Snowshoe Hikes Bring a Warm Ambiance to Winter Evenings at Ludington State Park
In Pure Ludington, we fully embrace the beauty of each season, and winter is a particularly magical time. The fresh layer of snow transforms the landscape into a winter wonderland, creating a serene and picturesque outdoor playground just waiting to be explored.
This winter, make it a priority to visit Ludington State Park, a gem that’s perfect for outdoor enthusiasts. While much of the park is closed due to construction, there are still opportunities to wind through sections of the park on cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails.
Friends of the Ludington State Park volunteers are hosting a series of lantern-lit snowshoe hikes in 2025 that will leave you feeling invigorated by the crisp, cool air and the tranquility of nature all around.
Each event is slated for 6-8 p.m. and open to the public, free of charge, on January 4, January 18, February 1 and February 15.
Parking will be in the lot at the end of the amphitheater road adjacent to the Skyline Trail (just before M-116 dead ends at the park entrance). The event trail winds along the south side of the Big Sable River on the open southern portion of the park. The route will be marked with lanterns, and there will be a bonfire at the amphitheater where you can warm up and meet some new friends.
Embrace the wonders of winter and create unforgettable memories in Ludington this season!
