Tent – check; marshmallows – check; reservations – check.

Camping with kids is an opportunity to make memories that will last a lifetime — so pack your bags and head to the lakeshore for a one-of-a-kind experience that will keep you active, engaged and outdoors this summer.

Vacation Station RV Resort is the perfect spot for your family getaway. From swimming pools and a fishing pond to rental cottages and on-site game time, the list of amenities here is unmatched.

This campground resort has 215 full hookup sites, including water, sewer, electric service, Wi-Fi and cable TV. Vacation Station RV Resort also features cabins for those who prefer to leave all of the gear at home.

The heated pool and spa, enclosed pet area, playground and video arcade are popular among guests. And Vacation Station is right in the heart of Ludington, close to Lake Michigan beaches, parks, and downtown shopping and restaurants.

Bring the whole family and enjoy your well-deserved time off at this luxury-quality RV resort.

For a more off-the-beaten-path location, head to Crystal Lake Campground in Scottville, which offers 160 sites on forested land. This is family camping at its finest and includes swimming, boating and fishing on an inland lake. Don’t have a boat? Just rent one on site, or take advantage of the sandy beach that is available for fun and relaxation.

Crystal Lake Campground has 60 full hookup sites, clean and modern restrooms, an activities building and a camp store. Grab some ice cream with the kids, head to the playground and explore the game room or mini-golf.

More Family Activities

Your trip to Ludington wouldn’t be complete without catching two of the area’s most well-known family destinations, Lewis Adventure Farm & Zoo and Country Dairy.

Lewis Adventure Farm & Zoo is a getaway from everyday life for both the young and young at heart. Take a break from camping to explore, play and make new memories with the ones you love most.

Explore over 40 fun-filled activities at the farm. Take a ride on the barrel train, race rubber ducks and play in 2,000 bushels of corn at the Corny Barn. Meet more than 100 unique animals in one of the largest, cleanest petting zoos in the area – from barnyard favorites, like ponies and goats, to exotics, like camels and lemurs.

With fresh, seasonal produce favorites, the farm store is not to be missed. And you will want to check out the farm’s calendar of special events, which cater to all ages and interests.

A working dairy farm in Oceana County, Country Dairy hosts farm tours and wagon rides, and kids will love fresh cheese curds and ice cream cones available on site. Get up closed and personal with the cows, see the milking operation, and view the milk bottling room.

Plan ahead, and you can take advantage of “Horsing Around with Daze and Dan” or a “Calf Encounter.” (Schedule an event at least 24 hours ahead.)

Country Dairy also has an outdoor playground, picnic area and country store for all visitors.

While you’re out and about, grab a pizza at Little Caesar’s and head to a park for a picnic to end your day. This is a perfect, cost-effective meal for a family to share, and the restaurant is conveniently located on US-10 in Ludington.
