Activity Checklist for an Autumn Getaway
Pack your bags: We have some easy, getaway ideas for the perfect fall road trip to Pure Ludington! Here are some activities we have on our autumn checklist, which we think you will be fond of too:
Visit a farm
Fall is the perfect time to head to a U-pick farm to grab some fresh produce. It’s a family-friendly activity and a fun way to celebrate the fall harvest. Christofferson Farms is open 7 days a week through mid-October, where you can pick apples and find other fresh, market items. Lewis Adventure Farm & Zoo will take you on a tractor ride to the orchard to pick your favorite apple or sunflower variety, and the on-site store features more produce items and baked goods.
Go wine tasting
Experience the taste of Michigan wines when you visit our Pure Ludington vineyards and tasting rooms. Pere Marquette Winery is located on the beautiful Buttersville Peninsula and offers distinctive wines produced in small quantities. North Branch Winery of Scottville will treat you to an afternoon of sampling in addition to snacks on their amazing charcuteries boards. Fox Barn Market & Winery of Shelby also makes a variety of fruit wines, which can be enjoyed outdoors on the patio.
Cast a line
The Pere Marquette River has several spots along the route where you can fish for a prized King or Coho Salmon. If you’re not sure where to go, contact one of our fishing guides, who will be happy to help you reel in a trophy fish and a story worth telling.
Go on a color tour
The countryside of Mason County becomes a magical landscape of reds and golds as the seasons change. Take a drive using our local map, or try new vantage points on a hiking trail, on a bicycle or on horseback.
Hit the links
Improve your game and enjoy the outdoors with a bit cooler temperatures. Ludington has three local courses, which are sure to entertain the novice and challenge an avid golfer: Hemlock Golf Club, Lakeside Links and Lincoln Hills Golf Club.
